What SUDS Means

The washer detected too many suds and is running a suds-reduction routine. Spin speeds drop and rinses extend until foam dissipates. Often caused by non-HE detergent or overdosing.

  • Cycle takes far longer than usual
  • Drum spins slowly or pauses repeatedly
  • Visible foam in the drum or door glass

Standard detergent foams excessively in low-water HE washers.

Even HE detergent overdosed creates persistent suds, especially with soft water.

Partial clog leaves suds in the tub between drains.

How to Fix It

  1. Let the cycle complete its suds-reduction routine — do not add more cycles.
  2. Run an empty Rinse+Spin (or Self Clean / Eco Drum Clean) with no detergent.
  3. Switch to HE-rated detergent and use 1-2 tablespoons for normal loads.
  4. Clean the debris filter behind the lower front access panel.
  5. If suds errors persist with HE detergent at low dose, inspect the drain hose for a partial clog or high-loop kink.
