Samsung Washer 4C2 — Hot water connected to cold inlet

Samsung Washer · Error code 4C2

What 4C2 Means

The washer detected hot water flowing through the cold-water inlet (or the cold supply is too hot). Samsung washers monitor inlet temperature and throw 4C2 when cold-line water exceeds about 122F (50C).

Symptoms

  • Cycle pauses or won't start
  • 4C2 appears soon after water fills
  • Wash water seems too warm

Common Causes

1
Inlet hoses swapped

Hot supply hose connected to the cold inlet on the back of the washer.

2
House water heater set too high

Cross-feed through a single-handle mixing valve elsewhere can heat the cold line briefly.

3
Failed inlet thermistor

Defective temperature sensor on the inlet valve falsely reports hot water.

How to Fix It

  1. Pause the cycle and shut off both supply valves.
  2. Check the hose labels: blue band/hose = cold (top inlet on most models marked C), red = hot.
  3. Swap hoses if they are reversed and restart a cold cycle.
  4. If hoses are correct, lower the home water heater to ~120F and retest.
  5. Run a Rinse+Spin cold-only cycle to confirm clearance.
  6. If the code returns, replace the cold inlet valve assembly (contains the thermistor).
