Samsung Washer Sr / 3E — Hall sensor / motor tach fault

Samsung Washer · Error code Sr

What Sr Means

The hall sensor on the BLDC drive motor isn't reporting RPM back to the inverter. The control can't verify motor speed and stops the cycle. Common after a hose-clog hard stop or after suds-induced overload.

Symptoms

  • Cycle stops at agitate or spin
  • Drum doesn't turn or jerks briefly then stops
  • Motor hum without rotation

Common Causes

1
Failed motor hall sensor

Sensor on the rotor side of the BLDC motor fails.

2
Loose hall sensor harness

Connector at the motor or inverter vibrated loose.

3
Failed inverter PCB

Drives the motor and reads the hall signal.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the washer and lay it on its back to access the motor (top-load) or remove rear panel (front-load).
  2. Locate the hall sensor harness on the motor and reseat both ends.
  3. Inspect the rotor magnets for cracks or rubbing on the stator.
  4. If the harness is good, replace the hall sensor (small bolted PCB on the motor).
  5. If Sr/3E returns, replace the inverter PCB.
