LG Dryer tE4 — Thermistor temperature out of range
LG Dryer · Error code tE4
What tE4 Means
tE4 indicates a thermistor reading outside its acceptable operating window — typically the condenser or secondary thermistor on heat-pump and hybrid models. The control aborts the cycle to prevent overheating or component damage.
Symptoms
- tE4 on display
- Cycle stops early with damp clothes
- Error returns each cycle
Common Causes
Sensor reads open or shorted.
Lint covers fins and skews temperature readings.
Pinched or broken thermistor lead.
Abnormal heat-pump temps drive sensor out of range.
How to Fix It
- Unplug for 60 seconds and hold Start/Pause 5 seconds.
- On heat-pump models, open the lower access panel and clean the condenser/heat exchanger per the manual.
- Locate the affected thermistor and measure resistance against the service-manual table.
- Replace the thermistor if out of spec, and reseat the connector at the main PCB.
- If tE4 persists after sensor replacement, schedule service — likely a sealed-system or compressor fault.
