What D90 Means

The D80, D90, and D95 codes report how blocked the exhaust duct is — roughly 80%, 90%, and 95% restricted. This is an airflow and fire-safety warning, not a malfunction.

Common Causes

Clogged exhaust vent

Lint has built up in the duct from the dryer to the outside — the cause in almost every case. A clogged vent is a known fire hazard.

A kinked foil duct or an over-long run restricts airflow.

Gas-supply issue (gas models)

On gas dryers, D80 can also indicate a lack of gas supply.

How to Fix It

  1. Clean the lint screen every load.
  2. Disconnect and clean the full exhaust duct from the dryer to the exterior vent hood with a vent-cleaning brush kit.
  3. Replace crushed foil ducting with smooth rigid or semi-rigid duct and shorten the run if possible.
  4. Confirm the exterior vent flap opens freely.
