LG Dryer E05 — Water supply problem (steam models)

LG Dryer · Error code E05

What E05 Means

E05 indicates the dryer expected water to enter the steam system within a set time and did not detect it. The cycle is paused or aborted because steaming without water can damage the generator.

Symptoms

  • E05 on display during a Steam cycle
  • No steam during steam phase
  • Standard cycles unaffected

Common Causes

1
Household water supply closed

Supply valve to the dryer is off.

2
Kinked or crushed inlet hose

Hose pinched behind the dryer.

3
Clogged inlet screen

Filter screen at the dryer water inlet plugged with debris.

4
Failed water inlet valve

Solenoid does not open.

5
Low household water pressure

Below the spec needed to trip the flow sensor.

How to Fix It

  1. Confirm the water supply valve at the wall is fully open.
  2. Pull the dryer out and inspect the inlet hose for kinks; straighten or replace.
  3. Shut off water, disconnect the inlet hose at the dryer, and clean the small inlet screen with a soft brush.
  4. Reconnect, restore water, and run a Steam cycle.
  5. If E05 persists, test the water inlet valve solenoid for continuity and replace if open.
