What UB Means

Load shifted to one side during spin. Washer aborted high-speed spin to prevent damage. User-fixable.

Symptoms

  • UB or Ub on display
  • Clothes come out wetter than normal
  • Loud banging during spin

Common Causes

Single heavy item with light items

Jeans plus a few t-shirts, or one wet towel by itself.

All items on one side after wash

Load tangled and stuck against the tub wall.

Washer not level

Tub can't self-center.

How to Fix It

  1. Open the lid/door and redistribute the load by hand.
  2. Add a few towels to balance a single heavy item.
  3. Run Drain & Spin.
  4. If UB recurs with normal loads, level the washer and check feet for grip.
  5. Inspect suspension components if leveling doesn't help.
