GE Washer E43 — Door Open During Cycle
GE Washer · Error code E43
What E43 Means
Control lost the door-closed signal while running. Either the door actually opened, the latch failed, or the lock switch is intermittent.
Symptoms
- Cycle pauses with E43
- Door appears closed but washer thinks it's open
- Resumes briefly then errors again
Common Causes
Laundry or boot bunching prevents full closure — most common.
Heavy door drops, strike no longer engages cleanly.
Microswitch open intermittently.
How to Fix It
- Open the door, clear any laundry from the door boot, and firmly re-close.
- Check that the rubber door boot isn't folded into the seal.
- Inspect the door strike for wear or damage.
- Lift the door slightly while closing — if that fixes it, hinges are sagging.
- If the issue persists, replace the door lock/switch assembly.
