H2O Minor Easy DIY

Whirlpool Dishwasher H2O — Cycle Paused, No Water Supply

Whirlpool Dishwasher · Error code H2O

What H2O Means

Informational message on newer Whirlpool models: the cycle has been paused because the dishwasher isn't getting water. Not a hardware fault yet — usually a closed shutoff or kinked line.

Symptoms

  • H2O shown on display
  • Cycle paused mid-fill
  • No water entering tub

Common Causes

1
Under-sink shutoff valve closed

Most common — someone closed the valve and forgot.

2
Kinked fill line

Braided supply line behind the dishwasher pinched against the cabinet.

3
Whole-house water off

Service interruption or main shutoff closed.

How to Fix It

  1. Open the under-sink water shutoff valve fully.
  2. Verify water flow at the kitchen sink.
  3. Pull the dishwasher out far enough to check the fill line for kinks; reroute as needed.
  4. Close the door and press Start — the dishwasher will resume the cycle.
  5. If H2O returns with the supply confirmed open, escalate to F6E1 troubleshooting (inlet valve / strainer).
