Whirlpool Dishwasher F4E3 — Circulation Pump Communication Error
Whirlpool Dishwasher · Error code F4E3
What F4E3 Means
The control board cannot communicate with the variable-speed circulation (wash) pump motor. The dishwasher will not run a wash cycle.
Symptoms
- F4E3 on display
- No wash spray action
- Cycle stops shortly after starting
- Pump may hum briefly then stop
Common Causes
Connector at the pump or board has backed out, or harness is pinched.
The brushless DC pump motor's electronics have failed.
Less common — only after ruling out harness and pump.
How to Fix It
- Power off at the breaker.
- Pull the toe-kick and locate the harness running to the circulation pump (large round motor on the side of the sump).
- Unplug and reseat both ends of the harness. Look for melted or discolored connectors.
- If the harness is good, run the service diagnostic — pump should run smoothly. If it does not, replace the circulation pump/motor assembly.
- If pump tests good but F4E3 persists, replace the control board.
