LG Microwave SE — Stuck key / shorted touchpad

LG Microwave · Error code SE

What SE Means

SE (Sensor / Stuck Error) indicates the control has seen a touch input held continuously. Almost always a moisture or membrane issue on the touch panel.

Symptoms

  • SE on display, sometimes alternating with a beep
  • Keypad partially or fully unresponsive
  • Comes back shortly after cooking food with steam

Common Causes

1
Moisture under touchpad

Steam vented onto the control panel and condensed behind the membrane.

2
Defective touchpad / keypad

Membrane traces have shorted from age.

3
Control board fault

Keypad scan input on the PCB has failed (rare).

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the microwave for 10–30 minutes to dry out any condensation.
  2. Avoid venting steaming pots directly under an over-the-range unit.
  3. If SE returns after drying, remove the control panel and disconnect the keypad ribbon — if the code clears with keypad disconnected, replace the keypad.
  4. If the code persists with the keypad unplugged, replace the main control board.
