What CH Means

Not a failure — the child lock is engaged. Keypad will not accept inputs other than the unlock combination.

Symptoms

  • 'CH', 'L', or a padlock icon on display
  • Beep when any cook button is pressed
  • Time-of-day can be displayed but cycles won't start

Common Causes

Child lock turned on

User or a curious child activated the lock.

Less common; can occur after brownouts.

How to Fix It

  1. Press and hold 'Stop/Clear' (or 'Clear') for 3 seconds — the most common unlock on LG.
  2. On some models, press and hold '3' for 3 seconds.
  3. Check the owner's manual for your specific model's combination if neither works.
  4. Once unlocked, run a quick 10-second test cycle to confirm.
