KitchenAid Dryer F22 — Exhaust Thermistor Fault

KitchenAid Dryer · Error code F22

What F22 Means

The control sees an exhaust temperature sensor (thermistor) reading out of range — open or shorted circuit. Drying will be inaccurate or aborted.

Symptoms

  • F22 on display
  • Auto cycles end too quickly or run long
  • Clothes coming out damp or over-dried

Common Causes

1
Failed exhaust thermistor

Resistance out of spec (should be ~10kΩ at 77°F)

2
Loose or corroded thermistor connector

Harness plug at the blower housing

3
Broken wire to thermistor

Chafed or pinched wire in the harness

4
Main control board fault

ACU input circuit damaged

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the dryer.
  2. Locate the thermistor on the blower housing (rear).
  3. Disconnect and measure resistance — should be near 10kΩ at room temperature.
  4. If out of spec or open/shorted, replace the thermistor.
  5. Inspect harness for damage; reseat connector and restore power.
