PF Minor Easy DIY

GE Dishwasher PF — Power Failure

GE Dishwasher · Error code PF

What PF Means

PF means the dishwasher lost AC power mid-cycle and is alerting you that the run was interrupted. The dishwasher is fine; it just wants acknowledgment.

Symptoms

  • PF flashing on display after a storm or breaker trip
  • Cycle did not complete
  • Display reset to clock or blank

Common Causes

1
Power outage or brownout

Utility interruption or voltage sag while a cycle was running.

2
Tripped breaker / GFCI

Branch circuit tripped from another load on the same circuit.

3
Loose junction-box connection

Wire nuts at the dishwasher junction box backed off and momentarily lost contact.

How to Fix It

  1. Press Start/Reset to clear PF.
  2. Re-select the cycle and press Start; verify it runs to completion.
  3. If PF returns with no known outage, check the breaker and any shared outlet (often shares with disposal).
  4. Kill power at the breaker and inspect the under-sink junction box for loose wire nuts or burned conductors.
  5. If recurring on a clean circuit, install a UPS-quality surge protector rated for the appliance.
