Chamberlain Garage Door Opener 1-1 — Low voltage / wall control wire issue

Chamberlain Garage Door Opener · Error code 1-1

What 1-1 Means

The opener is not receiving proper voltage on the wall control wires. Usually a short, broken wire, or a stuck/shorted door control button.

Symptoms

  • Opener will not respond to wall control
  • 1 flash then 1 flash on the learn LED
  • Lights may flicker
  • Remotes may still work but wall button does not

Common Causes

1
Shorted wall-station wires

Staple pinched the bell wire or the two conductors are touching behind the wall.

2
Faulty wall control panel

Multifunction door control button stuck closed or PCB failed.

3
Damaged wire at terminal

Loose or corroded wire at the white/white-with-red terminals on the motor head.

How to Fix It

  1. Disconnect the two wires from the wall control terminals (white and white-red) on the motor head.
  2. If the 1-1 code clears with the wires removed, the short is in the wall wire or wall button.
  3. Inspect the wire run for staples pinching the insulation; replace any damaged section.
  4. Disconnect the wall control panel and test again. If code clears, replace the wall control.
  5. Re-terminate the wires, ensuring no copper strands touch between terminals.
  6. Restore power and verify operation.
