Bosch Oven E202 — Internal Control Fault

Bosch Oven · Error code E202

What E202 Means

The main control board has detected an internal hardware fault — typically a relay driver, EEPROM, or power-stage failure. The oven disables all heating functions.

Symptoms

  • Oven won't heat at all
  • E202 on power-up or after a few seconds
  • Display otherwise normal
  • Sometimes paired with burned smell at control

Common Causes

1
Failed relay or relay driver

Power surge or age killed the heating relay.

2
Corrupted EEPROM

Brownout during a write left config invalid.

3
Burned PCB trace

Often visible at the relay or terminal area.

4
Failed power supply on the board

Logic rail collapsing under load.

How to Fix It

  1. Power off at the breaker for 10 minutes; restore and retry once — a soft fault may clear.
  2. Remove the rear panel and visually inspect the main control for burn marks or bulged capacitors.
  3. Verify supply voltage to the board is in spec (240 V across the heater feed legs).
  4. If E202 returns at every power-up, the main control needs replacement.
  5. Confirm part number against the model tag — Bosch boards are NOT cross-compatible across series.
