Bosch Oven E115 — Overtemperature Shutdown

Bosch Oven · Error code E115

What E115 Means

The cavity sensor has reported a temperature above the safety limit. The control kills the bake/broil relays to protect the cabinet and surrounding cabinetry.

Symptoms

  • Oven shuts off mid-cook
  • Strong heat in cabinet area
  • Cooling fan running long after shutdown
  • E115 or F115 on display

Common Causes

1
Cooling fan failed or blocked

Convection cabinet fan not exhausting; cavity heat soaks the controls.

2
Welded bake or broil relay

Element stays energized after the control commands off.

3
Drifted temperature sensor

PT500 reading low so the control overdrives the elements.

4
Door not sealing

Heat escapes onto the control panel and trips overtemp limit.

5
Insufficient install clearance

Cabinet cutout undersized; trapped heat triggers limit.

How to Fix It

  1. Power off at the breaker and let the oven fully cool — at least 1 hour.
  2. Verify the convection / cooling fan spins freely and runs on the next power-up.
  3. Inspect the door gasket for tears or compression set; replace if flat.
  4. Check installation clearances against the spec sheet for that model.
  5. If E115 returns immediately, suspect a welded relay on the main control — replace the board.
  6. If it only triggers at high temps, test the temperature sensor (PT500 ≈ 500 Ω cold) and replace if drifted.
