Bosch Dryer E08 — Condensate Pump Failure

Bosch Dryer · Error code E08

What E08 Means

The pump that moves condensate from the sump to the collection tank (or drain) is not running, blocked, or drawing abnormal current.

Symptoms

  • Water on floor under dryer
  • Condensate tank stays empty after cycles
  • Humming from base of dryer
  • E08 alarm mid-cycle

Common Causes

1
Lint or coin in pump impeller

Foreign objects clog the pump and stall the motor.

2
Failed pump motor

Pump windings open or shorted after years of use.

3
Sump full of lint sludge

Buildup at the bottom of the dryer prevents pump pickup.

4
Disconnected or damaged wiring to pump

Vibration loosens spade connectors at the pump motor.

5
Failed pump relay on control board

Board can't energize the pump.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the dryer.
  2. Remove the kickplate and any access panel covering the condensate sump and pump.
  3. Inspect the sump for lint sludge — clean thoroughly with a damp cloth.
  4. Remove the pump and check the impeller for hair, lint, or coins; clear any obstruction.
  5. Test the pump motor for continuity; replace if open.
  6. Reseat all wiring connectors at the pump.
  7. Reassemble, run a damp load, and verify water transfers to the tank or drain.
