Whirlpool Dryer F4E4 — Supply Voltage Error
Whirlpool Dryer · Error code F4E4
What F4E4 Means
The control sees the incoming 240V line voltage is out of the acceptable range (too high or too low). Most often a house-wiring or breaker problem, not the dryer.
Symptoms
- F4E4 on display
- No heat or intermittent heat
- Dryer trips off mid-cycle
- Other 240V appliances in house also acting up
Common Causes
Half the 30A double breaker has tripped or is failing.
Connection at the dryer terminal block or outlet has loosened.
Incoming line voltage genuinely out of spec at the meter.
How to Fix It
- Reset both halves of the 30A dryer breaker.
- Unplug the dryer and check outlet voltage with a multimeter — ~240V hot-to-hot, ~120V each hot to neutral.
- If outlet voltage is wrong, call a licensed electrician.
- If outlet voltage is correct, inspect the dryer terminal block screws and power cord for burnt or loose lugs.
- Power-cycle the dryer at the breaker for 5 minutes and run a Timed Dry.
