Samsung Dryer oD — Over Dry / Sensor Bar Not Reading Wet Load
Samsung Dryer · Error code oD
What oD Means
The moisture sensor bars inside the drum aren't detecting moisture, so the dryer ran longer than expected (or shut off thinking the load was dry). Usually fabric softener residue on the sensor bars.
Symptoms
- oD on display at end of cycle
- Cycle runs maximum time then ends
- Clothes still slightly damp despite cycle completing
- Inaccurate Sensor Dry results
Common Causes
Waxy film insulates the bars so moisture can't bridge them.
Items balled up away from the bars at the front of the drum.
Harness vibrated off the back of the sensor bar.
Bars corroded or wiring broken internally.
How to Fix It
- Locate the two metal sensor bars near the lint screen opening inside the drum.
- Scrub them with a sponge and rubbing alcohol or fine sandpaper to remove residue.
- Run a small damp-load test cycle on Sensor Dry to confirm.
- If oD persists, remove the front panel and check the harness on the back of the sensor bars.
- Replace the moisture sensor assembly if bars are corroded or wiring is damaged.
- Reduce dryer sheet / liquid softener use going forward.
