What 4C5 Means

The dishwasher attempted to fill but the float / level sensor never detected water in the tub. Cycle aborts early.

Symptoms

Common Causes

How to Fix It

  1. Confirm the water supply valve under the sink is fully open and the fill hose isn't kinked.
  2. Listen at the start of a cycle — a 4C5 with no valve click usually means the valve isn't being energized.
  3. Power off, pull the kick plate, and check the case/float switch — it should be DOWN with the tub empty.
  4. Test the inlet valve solenoid for ~500–1500 ohms; replace if open.
  5. If valve and float are good, check harness continuity to the main control board.
