LG Washer dHE — Drying heater error (combo / WashTower)

LG Washer · Error code dHE

What dHE Means

Same family as F19 on integrated dryer models — the control board detected the drying temperature is out of range, or a dry heater component has failed.

Symptoms

  • dHE on the display
  • Dry cycle aborts shortly after starting
  • Loads come out damp
  • Burning or hot-electronics smell during dry

Common Causes

1
Drying temperature out of range

Sensor sees too high or too low for the cycle stage.

2
Defective dry thermistor

Wrong feedback signal to the board.

3
Defective drying heater element

Open winding or shorted to chassis.

4
Defective dry fan motor

No airflow over heater; overheats.

5
Blown thermal fuse on heater duct

Safety opened from a prior overheat — fuse must be replaced after root cause fixed.

6
Defective thermostat

Bimetal thermostat stuck open.

How to Fix It

  1. Power off and unplug for 10 seconds, restore, and try a fresh cycle.
  2. Make sure the cold-water supply valve is fully open (used for condensing).
  3. Clean the condenser/lint area thoroughly — most dHE faults trace to lint or scale blocking airflow.
  4. Verify nothing is blocking the rear ventilation gap.
  5. If dHE returns, unplug, pull the back panel, and check continuity of the drying heater (open = replace).
  6. Inspect the thermal fuse and thermostat on the heater housing — replace if open.
  7. Test the dry fan motor by hand — should spin freely.
  8. If components test good but dHE persists, the main control board is suspect — call for service.
