Keurig Coffee Maker Won't Brew — cycle won't start

Keurig Coffee Maker · Error code Won't Brew

What Won't Brew Means

Brewer powers on and accepts button presses but no brew cycle starts. Typically a handle/lid microswitch problem, a control lockout from a prior fault, or a failed pod-detect sensor.

Symptoms

  • Button presses do nothing
  • Lights on but no brew action
  • Pump never starts
  • Brewer goes silent after pressing brew

Common Causes

1
Handle not fully latched

Microswitch under the handle didn't trip

2
Reservoir not fully seated

Add Water sensor blocking brew

3
Control board lockup

Firmware froze after a prior interrupted cycle

4
Failed handle microswitch

Switch worn out from use

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the brewer for 5 minutes, then plug back in
  2. Confirm the reservoir is full and firmly seated
  3. Open the handle fully, then close it firmly until it clicks
  4. Insert a K-Cup and press brew
  5. Try a water-only brew with the handle closed and empty pod holder
  6. If buttons still don't respond, the handle microswitch or control board has failed
