Add Water Minor Easy DIY

Keurig Coffee Maker Add Water Light — reservoir low or sensor fault

Keurig Coffee Maker · Error code Add Water

What Add Water Means

The Add Water indicator signals the reservoir is below the minimum fill line or the magnetic float sensor is not registering water. The brewer will not start until resolved.

Symptoms

  • Add Water light is lit
  • Brewer will not start a cycle
  • Light stays on even when reservoir is full
  • Light flashes during brew

Common Causes

1
Reservoir genuinely low

Water below MIN line

2
Reservoir not seated correctly

Tank not pushed fully onto the base magnets

3
Stuck or missing float magnet

Float assembly in the reservoir is jammed by scale or detached

4
Failed water level sensor

Hall-effect sensor in the base no longer reads the float

How to Fix It

  1. Remove the reservoir, fill to the MAX line with fresh water, and reseat firmly on the base
  2. Check the float inside the reservoir moves freely up and down
  3. Clean the reservoir with warm soapy water to remove scale around the float
  4. Tap the side of the reservoir to dislodge a stuck float
  5. If the light persists with a full, properly-seated tank, the sensor in the base has failed and the unit typically needs replacement
