Keurig Coffee Maker · Error code K-Cup Not Recognized
What K-Cup Not Recognized Means
On models with K-Cup-Plus or barcode pod detection (K-Cafe, K-Supreme Plus), the brewer can't read the pod's identification ring or the pod holder is dirty.
Symptoms
- 'Insert Pod' or 'Pod Not Recognized' on display
- Brewer won't start with a pod loaded
- Light around pod loader flashes
Common Causes
Coffee residue obscures the optical reader
Third-party or refillable pods may not be recognized on K-Cup-Plus models
Pod foil torn or ring bent
How to Fix It
- Remove the pod and inspect the foil ring for damage
- Wipe the pod holder and the optical sensor area with a damp cloth
- Try a different fresh K-Cup pod
- On K-Cafe, ensure you're using a K-Cup (not a K-Mug for the espresso side)
- If using a refillable cup, look for a manual override option in the menu
