GE Microwave F3-E0 — Keypad / membrane shorted (Profile/Advantium)
GE Microwave · Error code F3 -E0
What F3 -E0 Means
On newer GE Profile and Advantium models the F3 fault is extended with an E-code. F3-E0 specifically calls out a shorted key or keypad-to-control short. Cooking is blocked until cleared.
Symptoms
- F3 -E0 alternating in display
- Keypad won't respond
- Code returns immediately after power cycle
- Often follows a spill or steam exposure
Common Causes
Moisture or burned trace under the membrane shorts a key line.
Tail damaged where it routes to the control board.
Determine by disconnecting the keypad — if F3-E0 changes, board is fine.
How to Fix It
- Unplug the microwave for 5 minutes.
- Restore power — if F3-E0 returns immediately, the short is permanent.
- Unplug again and disconnect the keypad ribbon from the control board.
- Power up briefly — if the code changes to a 'no keypad' fault, the keypad is the problem.
- Replace the membrane touch panel with the OEM part.
- If the code stays F3-E0 with the keypad disconnected, replace the control board.
