Frigidaire Oven F4 — Oven Sensor Shorted

Frigidaire Oven · Error code F4

What F4 Means

Older-style fault: the EOC sees a short circuit at the oven temperature sensor input. Equivalent to F31 on newer boards.

Symptoms

  • F4 during heat call
  • Heat cuts off
  • May follow a recent rack movement that pinched the sensor

Common Causes

1
Shorted oven sensor

Internal short in the probe.

2
Pinched / chafed sensor harness

Wire grounded against the cavity wall.

3
Failed EOC

Less common — input circuit on the board is bad.

How to Fix It

  1. Power off.
  2. Unplug the sensor at the EOC and test resistance — should be ~1080 ohms; near-zero means shorted.
  3. Inspect the sensor harness behind the cavity for pinch points.
  4. Replace sensor and/or repair harness.
  5. If sensor and harness are good, replace the EOC.
