Frigidaire Oven F1 — Runaway Temperature / Stuck Key (Older Models)

Frigidaire Oven · Error code F1

What F1 Means

On older Frigidaire ovens this single-digit F1 indicates either a runaway oven temperature condition (sensor reads way above target) or a stuck key on the touchpad. The control shuts down heat.

Symptoms

  • F1 with continuous beeping
  • Oven reaches temperatures higher than set
  • Touchpad button feels mushy or stuck

Common Causes

1
Stuck button on touchpad

Membrane switch shorted from grease or wear.

2
Failed oven sensor (RTD)

Sensor reading falsely high.

3
Failed EOC

Control mis-reading the sensor or with a welded bake relay.

4
Welded bake or broil relay

Relay stuck closed causing actual runaway heat — safety critical.

How to Fix It

  1. Cut power at the breaker immediately if the oven is hot — do not keep using it.
  2. Disconnect the touchpad ribbon from the EOC and restore power — if F1 clears, replace the touchpad.
  3. Test the oven sensor at room temp — should read ~1080 ohms.
  4. If the bake element glows after power is cut to the EOC bake relay, the relay is welded — replace the EOC.
  5. Replace the EOC if the keypad and sensor test good.
