Frigidaire Microwave F3 — Stuck key on touchpad

Frigidaire Microwave · Error code F3

What F3 Means

F3 indicates the control has detected a key held closed for longer than a set time (typically 60 seconds). Almost always a failed touchpad rather than a user holding a button.

Symptoms

  • F3 shown after a minute or so of idle
  • Buttons feel mushy or one key triggers wrong action
  • Microwave will not accept input

Common Causes

1
Failed membrane touchpad

Internal trace shorted from heat, moisture, or wear.

2
Grease/moisture under panel

Common on over-the-range units near cooking steam.

3
Damaged ribbon cable

Folded or pinched ribbon causes a permanent short.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug for 5 minutes — if F3 reappears within ~1 minute idle, keypad is suspect.
  2. Remove the control panel and unplug the touchpad ribbon from the board.
  3. Power on; if F3 does not appear, replace the touchpad assembly.
  4. If F3 still appears with keypad disconnected, replace the control board.
