What Demo Means

Demo mode lets the display and controls work for showroom display without actually running the magnetron. If a new (or refurbished) unit will not heat, demo mode is the first thing to check.

Symptoms

  • Microwave runs but food stays cold
  • Display shows 'd' or 'demo' briefly
  • All buttons work normally

How to Fix It

  1. Check the owner manual for the demo-mode toggle — typically hold a specific button (often '0' or 'Off/Clear') for 3–5 seconds.
  2. Confirm 'Demo Off' or similar appears on the display.
  3. Heat a cup of water for 1 minute — if still cold, troubleshoot as a no-heat condition (door switches, magnetron, inverter).
