What E09 Means

The heating element is drawing excessive current or shorting to chassis ground. The control disables the heater for safety.

Symptoms

  • Cycle aborts during heat phase
  • Tripped GFCI or breaker
  • Tingling shock from cabinet (unplug immediately)
  • Hot wash settings unavailable

Internal coil contacts the metal sheath/ground.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the washer immediately and do not run cycles.
  2. Remove the front or rear panel for heater access.
  3. Disconnect heater wires and measure resistance from each terminal to ground (should read OL/infinite).
  4. If any terminal shows continuity to ground, replace the heating element.
  5. Inspect and replace the terminal block if charred.
  6. Repair any chafed wiring before powering on.
