Bosch Refrigerator E9 — Door Ajar / Door Switch Fault

Bosch Refrigerator · Error code E9

What E9 Means

The control has logged that a door has been open too long, or a door switch is stuck reporting open. Interior lights stay on and cooling efficiency drops.

Symptoms

  • E9 or door-open alarm
  • Audible beeping that will not stop
  • Interior light stays on with door closed
  • Excess condensation inside cabinet

Common Causes

1
Door physically not sealing

Items inside blocking the gasket or a bin pushed out of position.

2
Failed/stuck door switch (reed or plunger)

Switch no longer changes state when door closes.

3
Misaligned magnet (reed-switch models)

Door magnet shifted out of alignment with the reed switch.

4
Worn/torn gasket

Air leaks keep the cabinet from reaching setpoint.

How to Fix It

  1. Open and firmly close each door; verify the alarm clears.
  2. Check that bins, drawers, and stored items are not blocking the seal.
  3. Inspect the gasket for tears or compression set; replace if damaged.
  4. Locate the reed/plunger switch at the top of the door frame and test for state change with a multimeter.
  5. Realign the door magnet or replace the switch as needed.
