Bosch Dishwasher E13 — Inlet water too hot

Bosch Dishwasher · Error code E13

What E13 Means

Incoming water temperature exceeds the upper limit (typically 158 deg F / 70 deg C). The control halts the cycle to protect plastic components and the wash chemistry.

Symptoms

  • Cycle stops early after fill
  • Steam visible from vent
  • Error shows on hot summer days or with tankless heater set high

Common Causes

1
Water heater set too high

Above ~120 deg F at the dishwasher inlet.

2
Tankless heater overshoot

Tankless system delivering very hot water at low flow.

3
Cross-connected lines

Dishwasher accidentally connected to recirculation loop.

4
Failed inlet NTC

Sensor reading high; check at known temperature.

How to Fix It

  1. Measure water temperature at the kitchen sink hot tap.
  2. Lower the water heater setpoint to ~120 deg F.
  3. Verify the dishwasher is plumbed to the standard hot supply, not a recirc line.
  4. Run a fresh Rinse cycle to verify the error clears.
  5. If error persists with proper inlet temp, suspect inlet NTC and replace.
