Bosch Dishwasher E08 — Low water level / heater protection

Bosch Dishwasher · Error code E08

What E08 Means

Water level in the tub is too low for the heater to operate safely. The control disables the cycle to avoid dry-firing the element.

Symptoms

  • Cycle stops early
  • Heater not engaging
  • Wash arms barely spin

Common Causes

1
Slow inlet fill

Restricted inlet valve or screen reducing fill volume.

2
Air-gap blockage

Clogged air gap at the sink causing siphon during fill.

3
Drain check valve stuck open

Water siphons back out during fill.

4
Sump filter debris

Fine mesh blocked, water sits above filter not flooding sump.

How to Fix It

  1. Clean the fine and coarse filters at the bottom of the tub.
  2. Inspect the air gap (if installed) at the sink for debris.
  3. Verify the drain hose has a proper high loop above the drain inlet.
  4. Clean the inlet valve screen.
  5. Run a Rinse cycle and watch for normal fill volume.
