Food Processor Not Turning On — Fixes
Food processors have strict safety interlocks — they will not run unless the bowl and lid are locked in exactly right. That's the cause of the vast majority of "won't turn on" complaints.
1. Lock the Bowl and Lid Correctly
The bowl must be locked onto the base AND the lid must be locked onto the bowl, with the tabs lined up and twisted to engage the interlock. Even a slightly misaligned lid stops it from running. Take it apart and reseat both, twisting firmly until each clicks/locks. This fixes most cases.
2. Check the Pusher / Feed Tube
Many models have a secondary interlock in the feed tube — the food pusher must be inserted to a certain point. Make sure the pusher is in place if your model requires it.
3. Power and Overload
Confirm it's plugged into a working outlet. If it shut off mid-use, it may have overheated processing a heavy load — let it cool 15-30 minutes and check for a reset button on the base. Don't overload or process very hard items beyond its rating.
4. Worn Interlock Tab
The plastic tabs that engage the interlock switch can wear or break, so the unit no longer senses the lid is locked. Inspect the tabs on the bowl/lid; a cracked tab means the part needs replacing.

FAQ
Almost always the bowl or lid isn't locked into the safety interlock correctly. Reseat the bowl on the base and the lid on the bowl, twisting firmly until they lock and the tabs align. Check the feed-tube pusher too.
Some have a thermal reset on the base if the motor overheats. Let it cool 15-30 minutes and look for a reset button. Avoid overloading it with heavy/hard ingredients.
