What F8E2 Means

The dispenser system isn't moving to the correct position or water isn't flowing through it. On front-loaders this is the dispenser motor or cam; on top-loaders it can be a clogged dispenser cup or the dispenser actuator.

Symptoms

  • Detergent or fabric softener not dispensing
  • Standing water in the dispenser drawer
  • F8 E2 appears in the rinse/dispense phase
  • Crusty soap buildup in dispenser tray

Common Causes

Clogged dispenser

Detergent or softener residue blocking the venturi or jets.

The small motor that rotates the cam between detergent, bleach, softener has died.

How to Fix It

  1. Pull the dispenser drawer out and rinse it with hot water — scrub away all softener and detergent buildup.
  2. Clean the dispenser housing inside the washer with a brush; clear the jets above where the drawer slides in.
  3. Reseat the drawer firmly.
  4. Run a Clean Washer cycle to test.
  5. If the code returns, run the service-mode dispenser test to confirm the motor steps through positions. Replace dispenser motor if it doesn't.
