Whirlpool Washer F3E1 — Pressure Sensor (Water Level) Fault

Whirlpool Washer · Error code F3E1

What F3E1 Means

The control isn't getting a valid water-level signal from the pressure transducer. The washer can't tell how full the tub is, so it errors out for safety.

Symptoms

  • Washer drains continuously, even when off
  • Won't fill at all, or overfills
  • F3 E1 immediately on Start
  • Drain pump runs nonstop until unplugged

Common Causes

1
Clogged pressure (air) hose

Detergent or water in the small clear hose between tub and pressure sensor distorts the reading.

2
Failed pressure transducer

Sensor on the main control board has failed.

3
Loose harness to pressure sensor

Connector unseated during prior service.

4
Failed main control board

On boards where the pressure transducer is integrated, the whole board needs replacement.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the washer.
  2. Locate the pressure (air) hose — a small clear or black hose running from the bottom side of the outer tub up to the pressure sensor on the main board.
  3. Disconnect both ends and blow it clear. If kinked, replace.
  4. Reseat the connector on the pressure sensor.
  5. Plug in and test. If the code returns and the pressure transducer is on the main control, replace the main control board.
