What tESt Means

Samsung's official message that the oven is in Demo / Showroom mode. In Demo mode the display and controls work but the oven and cooktop will NOT heat.

Symptoms

  • 'tESt' or 'tE5t' on display
  • Oven appears to start cycles but cavity never heats
  • Cooktop won't heat either
  • Behavior began right after delivery

Demo mode enabled at factory or showroom

Unit shipped with showroom mode active.

Demo mode toggled accidentally

Sequence on the panel entered by accident.

How to Fix It

  1. Check the owner's manual for the model-specific exit sequence (commonly a multi-button hold for several seconds).
  2. On many Samsung ranges, hold the appropriate combo (often a setting + temperature combo) until the display beeps and 'tESt' clears.
  3. Power-cycle the oven at the breaker and re-verify normal cook behavior.
  4. If you can't find the exit sequence, contact Samsung support with the exact model number.
