Samsung Oven E-08 — Oven Not Heating

Samsung Oven · Error code E-08

What E-08 Means

The control board commanded heat but never saw the cavity reach the expected temperature within the allowed time. On electric models this usually means a dead bake element or open element circuit.

Most Likely Fix

Oven temperature sensor error

PartOven temperature sensor (RTD probe)
Typical cost$20-50
Difficultyeasy
Time30 min

Tools: screwdriver, nut driver, multimeter

Diagnose first: Sensor at the back of the oven cavity. Should read ~1080 ohms at room temp. Easy DIY - two screws and a plug connector.

Symptoms

  • E-08 displayed after preheat
  • Cavity stays cold or only weakly warm
  • Element doesn't glow
  • Bake works but broil doesn't (or vice versa)

Common Causes

1
Failed bake or broil element

Element coil burned open.

2
Failed element relay on main PCB

Relay not closing, no power to element.

3
Open thermal fuse / hi-limit

Safety device opened after prior overheat.

4
Broken element wiring

Spade terminal burned off at element.

5
Incoming voltage low / one leg of 240V missing

Element only gets 120V — heats very slowly or not at all.

How to Fix It

  1. Shut off the breaker before working inside.
  2. Visually inspect bake and broil elements for blisters or breaks.
  3. With power off, test each element for continuity — open = replace.
  4. Inspect element spade terminals for burn damage and replace any pigtail with burned ends.
  5. Test the thermal fuse / hi-limit for continuity; replace if open.
  6. Verify 240V at the range terminal block (both legs hot to ground).
  7. If elements, wiring, voltage, and limits are good, replace the main control board (failed element relay).
