C to P Minor Easy DIY
Samsung Oven C to P — Cooktop Active, Can't Start Self Clean
Samsung Oven · Error code C to P
What C to P Means
Samsung's official message that the cooktop is in use, so the oven cannot start a Self Clean cycle. Self Clean requires the entire appliance to be cool/idle.
Symptoms
- 'C to P' displayed when starting Self Clean
- Self Clean won't begin
- Cooktop indicator still lit
Common Causes
1
Cooktop element still on
A burner/element was left on.
2
Residual hot surface indicator active
Cooktop is cooling and still flagged hot.
3
Failed cooktop temp sensor
Sensor reports a burner active when it isn't.
How to Fix It
- Confirm every cooktop knob/burner is OFF.
- Wait for all hot surface indicators to clear (typically 10-30 minutes after the last use).
- Try Self Clean again.
- If 'C to P' returns with the cooktop fully cool and off, the cooktop temperature sensor or main control board is faulty — service required.
