Maytag Dryer F02 — Keypad / User Interface Stuck Key
Maytag Dryer · Error code F02
What F02 Means
The control detected a button on the user interface that has been pressed for more than ~1 minute, or sees a shorted key. The dryer will not respond to commands.
Symptoms
- F02 on display
- Buttons not responding correctly
- Dryer beeps repeatedly
- Cycle won't start
Common Causes
Most common — the touch panel membrane has a key shorted closed.
Sticky residue can hold a button down.
Less common — the UI board itself has failed.
Connection between keypad and UI board is loose.
How to Fix It
- Unplug the dryer for 1 minute and plug back in.
- Press each button individually to identify a sticky or unresponsive one.
- Clean the console face with a slightly damp cloth (never spray cleaner on it).
- If a key is physically stuck, replace the keypad/membrane assembly.
- If all keys feel normal but the code persists, replace the user interface board.
- Verify operation with a test cycle.
