What Er AS Means

The reed (magnetic) switch that confirms door open/closed state for the auto-open door is failing or misaligned. Often shows as LAS (left) or rAS (right) on French-door auto-open models.

Symptoms

  • Auto-door behavior erratic
  • Door may not auto-open
  • May cycle open/close incorrectly

Failed reed switch

Magnetic switch in the door header failed.

Door drooped — magnet no longer aligns with the switch.

Broken wire to the switch.

Rare board failure on the switch input.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug for 5 minutes and retry.
  2. Inspect the door for sag — adjust hinges so the door magnet aligns with the upper-cabinet reed switch.
  3. Open the cabinet header per service manual to access the reed switch.
  4. Replace the reed switch if it doesn't change state with a magnet test.
  5. If issue persists, replace the door control board.
