LG Oven F17 — Lower convection fan error
LG Oven · Error code F17
What F17 Means
The lower-oven convection fan is not turning when commanded, or its feedback is missing for more than ~1 minute during a convection cycle.
Symptoms
- F17 or F-17 on display
- Lower convection cycle quits
- No fan noise from lower cavity
- Upper oven and standard bake still work
Common Causes
Bearings failed from heat fatigue.
Hub backed off; blade tilts and scrapes.
Motor reads infinite — coil opened.
Relay never closes or harness opened.
How to Fix It
- Power down at the breaker.
- Remove the lower-cavity rear convection cover and spin the blade by hand — must spin free.
- Tighten blade hub or replace bent blade.
- Disconnect the motor at its plug and measure winding resistance against service-manual spec.
- Replace lower convection fan motor if open or seized.
- If the motor checks good, verify line voltage to the motor plug while the control commands convection; if absent, replace the main control board.
