What UE Means

On certain LG dishwasher models UE indicates the load or rack is interfering with rotation of a spray arm or with the top wash assembly. Less common than the washer UE — appears mainly on TrueSteam / top-control models.

Symptoms

  • UE shown shortly after start
  • Top or bottom spray arm not turning
  • Dishes inadequately cleaned
  • Cycle pauses repeatedly

Common Causes

Tall items blocking spray arm

Cookie sheets, cutting boards, or oversized pots stopping rotation.

Utensils through bottom rack

Long utensils fall through and jam the lower spray arm.

Misaligned upper rack

Rack not seated, leaning, or off its rails.

How to Fix It

  1. Cancel cycle and open the door; remove any oversized items.
  2. Spin each spray arm fully by hand to confirm clearance.
  3. Reseat the upper rack on both rails.
  4. Restart cycle and listen for the spray arms spinning.
