PF Minor Easy DIY

LG Dishwasher PF — Power failure flag

LG Dishwasher · Error code PF

What PF Means

PF is not a fault — it notifies you that the dishwasher lost power during a cycle. The cycle resumes or you can restart it once power is stable.

Symptoms

  • PF on display after a brief outage
  • Cycle paused mid-program
  • Display blinking on restoration of power

Common Causes

1
Brief utility outage

Brown-out, surge, or short blip from the grid.

2
Tripped breaker

Shared circuit trips and resets; PF logs the event.

3
GFCI nuisance trip

Garbage disposer or sink GFCI shared with the dishwasher tripped.

4
Loose power-cord connection

Cord at the junction box or outlet not fully seated.

5
Extension cord usage

Use of an extension cord or undersized circuit produces voltage drops.

How to Fix It

  1. Press POWER, then Start/Pause to resume the cycle.
  2. If PF recurs, verify the dishwasher is on its own dedicated 15 A circuit per LG.
  3. Reset the breaker and confirm voltage at the outlet (108–132 VAC).
  4. Do not use an extension cord.
  5. Check the junction box wiring at the dishwasher for loose lugs.
  6. If PF appears repeatedly with no household outage, replace the power filter / EMI module, then the main PCB.
