Generac Generator 1900 — Utility Lost (Informational)

Generac Generator · Error code 1900

What 1900 Means

The generator detected loss of utility power and started its outage routine. This is NOT a fault — it is the normal alert during a power outage and clears automatically when utility returns.

Symptoms

  • 1900 shown on display during a power outage
  • Yellow alert (not red)
  • Generator starts after 5-second delay and transfers load
  • Returns to standby when utility comes back

Common Causes

1
Actual utility outage

Grid power is out — this is the unit doing its job.

2
Tripped main breaker upstream of transfer switch

Looks like an outage to the ATS.

3
Loose utility-side conductor at the ATS

Intermittent connection causes false outage detection.

How to Fix It

  1. If utility is actually out, no action needed — the generator will run and shut down automatically when power returns.
  2. If utility appears on at the meter but 1900 persists, check the main breaker and the utility-side lugs in the ATS (qualified electrician only — these are live).
  3. Clear the message by pressing Enter once power is restored.
