Frigidaire Washer E31 — Pressure sensor communication failure

Frigidaire Washer · Error code E31

What E31 Means

The main control isn't getting valid signal from the analog pressure (water level) sensor. The washer can't safely fill without knowing the level.

Symptoms

  • Won't start a cycle
  • E31 appears at power-on
  • Fill behavior erratic

Common Causes

1
Failed pressure sensor

Hall-effect sensor in the sensor body has gone open or shorted.

2
Damaged wiring harness

Pinched or chafed wires between sensor and control.

3
Loose connector at sensor or board

Vibration unseats the plug.

4
Main control board fault

Input circuit on the board no longer reads the sensor.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the washer for 5 minutes to reset the control.
  2. Open the top panel and locate the pressure sensor (small box on the rear panel).
  3. Reseat both connectors at the sensor and the control board.
  4. Inspect the harness for visible damage.
  5. Substitute a known-good pressure sensor.
  6. If the code persists, replace the main control board.
