Frigidaire Refrigerator H1 — Fresh Food Thermistor Open

Frigidaire Refrigerator · Error code H1

What H1 Means

Main board reads an open circuit on the fresh-food (refrigerator) section thermistor. Without a valid temp reading, cooling control is degraded.

Symptoms

  • H1 on display
  • Fresh food too cold or too warm
  • Compressor cycles abnormally
  • Cannot adjust fridge temperature

Common Causes

1
Failed fresh food thermistor

Internal element opens with age.

2
Broken or pinched thermistor wire

Often near the back wall or evaporator drain area.

3
Disconnected thermistor harness

Loose at the main board or sensor end.

4
Main control board input failure

Sensor input on the board is damaged.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the refrigerator.
  2. Locate fresh food thermistor (typically clipped near the top of the fresh food compartment).
  3. Disconnect and measure resistance with a multimeter — should be roughly 16k ohms at 32 deg F (verify with tech sheet).
  4. If reading is infinite (open), replace the thermistor.
  5. If sensor is good, inspect wiring back to the main board for breaks.
  6. If wiring is good, replace the main control board.
