What E62 Means

Control detects the heater is on when it should be off, or cannot turn it off. Usually a welded heater relay or shorted element. Stop using the dryer — fire risk.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the dryer immediately and let it cool — do not run it.
  2. Remove the rear panel and inspect heater assembly for visible coil damage.
  3. Measure heating element resistance to chassis; any reading other than infinite = replace element.
  4. Replace main control board (heater relay).
  5. Replace high-limit thermostat as preventive on a heat-runaway event.
  6. Verify normal heat cycling on test run.
